FINANCIAL AID DIRECTOR

Job Summary:

The Financial Aid Director will oversee and manage all aspects of the college’s Financial Aid Department.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and mission of the department.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees following company policy.

 Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides executive leadership and administrative oversight to the College’s financial aid department.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other college departments.
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to maintain and improve student opportunities and enrollment via accessible financial aid programs.
  • Trains and educates financial aid staff, ensuring staff are equipped to counsel students on available financial aid options and opportunities.
  • Develops or oversees the development of educational materials to educate students, parents, and other borrowers on the differences in financial aid options, including government loans, private loans, grants, scholarships, work-study, and other forms.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with representatives from private and government lending agencies.
  • Negotiates contracts with college lenders.
  • Drafts, reviews, and implements policies, guidelines, and standards to ensure students maintain financial and academic eligibility for financial aid.
  • Periodically audits and reviews recordkeeping processes to ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping following federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and college policies.
  • Monitors financial aid practices to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and college policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to establish and meet departmental goals and standards.
  • Ability to prepare and present detailed financial reports to a broad audience.
  • Thorough understanding of financial aid programs' and college policies' laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in related field required; MBA in finance preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in a related field with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
