Volunteer Director of Career Services

Position Overview

  • The Director of Career Services supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the college and Division of Enrollment and Student Services. The Director of Career Services provides general career counseling to students, recent graduates, and alumni. The Director provides guidance regarding the public interest and public sector job markets. The Director provides internal career programming for the student population. 

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide career counseling and referrals to assist students with the career development process;
  • Provide career planning assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled workshops with groups;
  • Provide instruction to career planning in college experience classes;
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers, and the general public;
  • Initiates contact with employers;
  • Plan and implement job fairs and on-campus recruiting events;
  • Distribute information on internships, summer jobs, and local part-time jobs;
  • Develops an annual plan and report that includes learning outcomes, assessment methods, assessments, and reporting based on programs and initiatives in Career Services.  Submit plans and reports to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, master's preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years in career counseling, higher education, or related field;
  • Job search and job market experience;
  • Supervisory experience; and 
  • Experience working with diverse communities.
